Markas secures itself the Best Recruiter certification in bronze
The service providing company Markas participated in the Best Recruiter study 2017/18 and ranks fourth place in the facility/security services sector thanks to its performance in the field of staff management and recruitment. Especially in the category "contact with applicants", Markas is evaluated above-average.
"We set ourselves high benchmarks when it comes to staff recruiting. In course of the whole process we aim to provide quick feedback to our applicants.", confirms Peter Gasser, Head of Human Resources at Markas.
The award ceremony took place on November 14th in the Novomatic Forum in Vienna.

The 25th of October focused on training at Markas
The success of a service providing company depends on the qualification and the expertise of its employees. That's why Markas is focusing on continuous training since its foundation more than 30 years ago.
As already in 2016, Markas dedicated one day to this important issue. On October 25th, the "Markas training day", various internal trainings were organized all over Austria. All in all, 456 employees attended the courses and consequently could extend their know-how for their daily tasks.

The CEOs of Markas Austria talking about Markas’ success formula
On the occasion of this year’s Hermes.Wirtschafts.Preis, the Austrian daily “Kurier” interviewed Markas CEO Gerlinde Tröstl and managing partner Christoph Kasslatter about the recipe of the company’s success. Last year Markas was awarded with the Hermes.Wirtschafts.Preis as “best-women led company” in Austria.
Under the headline “Markas creates added value” Gerlinde Tröstl and Christoph Kasslatter explain why the strong presence of the owner family, the focus on apprenticeship and in-service training as well as taking measures for a high employee motivation are key factors for success.
The daily newspaper “Kurier” reports about this in its evening edition of October 18th and on October 19th, 2017.
Markas launches trainee offensive
One of Markas’ goals is to offer an education with future perspective to the young generation. Therefore, the company trains office management assistants as well as cleaning technicians. During each training Markas aims at offering them an optimal apprenticeship to prepare them for the working environment. In addition to the typical content of teaching, the trainees learn how it is to work in a team and above all how it is to take over responsibility. 2012 Markas was awarded as the best trainee company in Lower Austria for its engagement in apprenticeship. Markas employs 6 trainees and is looking forward to getting further applications.

Markas joins the 3rd Children Business Week
From July 17 to 21 2017, the Children Business Week took place at the WIFI in St. Pölten and enables children at the age between seven and fourteen, to get an insight into the working environment. In course of this free holiday program, which is initiated by the NÖ Familienland GmbH and the Wirtschaftskammer, approximately 60 companies joined this event and gave the kids an understanding of their daily business.
Markas took part as well. Peter Gasser, Head of Human Resources, offered a look behind the scenes of the service company. “The kids took active part and had a lot of fun to accomplish the `Super Mario Parcour`. In my opinion, this free initiative is a great idea. More than 2.000 kids joined this event – this show that the next generation is very interested how economy works.”

Markas celebrates official recognition for its CSR engagement
During the TRIGOS ceremony on May 16 in Krems, Markas was awarded a certificate as one of the top 3 major enterprises. The aim of the TRIGOS prize is to get companies with a high commitment to CSR into the public forum.
All in all, 36 companies had filed an application for the TRIGOS prize, from which one small-sized, one medium-sized and one major enterprise were selected as winners by an independent jury.

Markas is “Winner by Passion 2017”
In autumn 2016, Markas had received the Hermes.Wirtschafts.Preis in the category “best women-led company”. As a consequence and according to the motto “Passion that creates pleasure”, Markas – together with a couple of other awarded companies – was invited to the “Gala aus Leidenschaft” and honored as “Sieger. Aus Leidenschaft” (engl. Winner by passion).
The festive event was initiated by the Austrian Economic Chamber and took place on May 15. Markas CEO Gerlinde Tröstl was given the prize by Renate Scheichelbauer-Schuster, Chairwoman for the Industry and Trade Sector of the Austrian Economic Chamber.

Markas joins the 60th Austrian Congress for Hospital Management
As in previous years, Markas will participate with an exhibition stand in the Austrian Congress for Hospital Management, which takes place from May 8 to 10 in Krems.
Visitors of the Markas stand will be spoiled with culinary Italian delicacies.
In addition to that, all visitors are invited to take part in our lottery. The winner will be awarded with a wellness weekend for two persons.

Sonja Zwazl, president of the Economic Chamber of Lower Austria, visits the Markas office building
On March 24th, Markas CEO Gerlinde Tröstl had the pleasure to welcome Sonja Zwazl, president of the Economic Chamber of Lower Austria, in the Markas office in St. Pölten.
After a company presentation by Gerlinde Tröstl, the president and her team were guided through the Markas building in order to get to know the company structure. Finally, the Markas management team and the President had the opportunity to talk about issues such as the transition to flexible working hours and apprenticeship training. “We really appreciate that the president took the time to visit us and let us give her an insight into our company. It was a very interesting and insightful meeting. I hope that we will have the opportunity to continue this positive exchange”, Gerlinde Tröstl is briefly summing up.

„Clean Lounge“ attracted many participants to visit the Markas head office
On March 9th, the 10th “Clean Lounge”, a networking platform for members of the cleaning industry, took place in the Markas office building. More than 45 guests joined this event and used the evening for networking. After an introduction speech about Markas, Werner Kogler, publicly certified expert, gave a technical speech about damage symptoms. Finally, the participants were guided through the building and spoilt with an Italian antipasti-buffet.
Since its foundation in 2013, the “Clean Lounge” takes place four times a year and is well-accepted by the companies. It was the first time for Markas to be the host of this independent and politically neutral platform.

Round table: Markas CEO conversing with politics and industry
On February 14, Wolfgang Fellner, publisher of the Austrian Daily “Österreich, invited to a discussion round, in which notable representatives of politics and industry took part. Markas CEO Gerlinde Tröstl joined the round, too. The attendees discussed the challenging situation of the job market in lower Austria, the growing need for professional personnel and the necessity of a reduction of bureaucracy.
Gerlinde Tröstl sums up: “Education and qualification are crucial for our success. For this reason, Markas focuses on continuous training. We need politics to create a framework, which allows flexible working times and reduces bureaucracy.
