Markas, IDM and UniBz launch the week to discover the typical products of South Tyrol

On Monday the 14th of October the project “Restauration, quality and territory. A week to discover the typical products of South Tyrol” will start, an initiative addressed to the students of the Free University of Bolzano with the aim to transform the launch in the canteen in a cultural moment through experiences, interaction with the Taste Ambassadors of South Tyrol and insights with sector experts.

During the whole week in the canteens of the Free University of Bolzano and Bressanone,  a special menu will be proposed with dishes prepared by Markas’ cooks trained specifically for the occasion by the Michelin-star chef Herbert Hintner(Watch the video here)

On Wednesday the 16th of October the University of Bolzano will host a “Food Talk” with Markas’ General Director Evelyn Kirchmaier Kasslatter as moderator and two food experts: Prof. Lucio Lucchin, Head of Dietetic and clinic Nutrition of the Südtiroler Sanitätsbetrieb - Azienda Sanitaria dell'Alto Adige, and Prof. Marco Gobbetti, Professor of the faculty of Science and Technologies at the Free University of Bolzano and one of the main italian experts in Food Microbiology.

On the 16th and 17th of October, respectively in Bressanone and Bolzano, the Taste Ambassadors of South Tyrol will offer a tasting of their products and will be available to satisfy the students' curiosities. Moreover, at the end of the press conference that will be held on the 14th of October there will be a show-cooking that will allow to taste some of the products branded South Tyrol Quality that will be proposed during the week.

“The project is based on the idea that the companies of the food sector have a social responsibility towards the users and that the canteen were students daily eat could be used to spread the culture of a good and healthy nutrition. – says Evelyn Kirchmaier Kasslatter. – At the center of the project there is the quality intended as an expression of our local excellence. Together with our partners for the initiative we share the aspiration that everyone of us can contribute to divulgate the importance of an aware nutrition, starting from the students”.
 
Partners of the project are MarkasIDM South Tyrol, facilitator of the economic development of South Tyrol that made the promotion of the products of our territory their mission, the Free University of Bolzano - Bozen that patronized the project and always promotes initiatives that aim at improving the wellbeing of the people who attend the athenaeum, and Prof. Lucio Lucchin.

“We are glad to host this event that I am sure will be very interesting for our students. Markas is a company we have been working with for several years, we both are happy to bring on a project like this that aims at providing an extra value for our students. The main goal of our cooperation is to make the canteen a place where it is possible to eat both healthy and with pleasure. We wish to keep working together to meet the requests of our students’ that are more aware and careful to what they eat”.
