38 Years of Markas Austria: A Look Back at Our Success Story

The story of Markas Austria began 38 years ago with a dozen employees and a vision: to become a leading multi-service company. Today, we employ more than 2,200 dedicated employees across Austria, who work daily to ensure our customers receive top-quality services. Our strength? Our focus on quality and the continuous investment in our employees. €82 million in revenue and over 200 clients – these are numbers that fill us with pride.

A look back: Highlights from our history

 

1986: On August 29, 1986, Markas Austria was founded in Baden near Vienna. The first customer was the Thermenregion Baden Regional Hospital.


The following years were marked by continuous growth and the expansion of our service portfolio. We have developed from a small regional company into one of Austria's leading cleaning companies. In doing so, we have never forgotten our roots and have always put our customers first.

 

2000: In 2000, the company received its first order in Tyrol with the Natters Hospital, laying the foundation for the ongoing cooperation with the TirolKliniken.
2004: The company headquarters is relocated to the Lower Austrian state capital of St. Pölten.
2010: The new company building in Dürauergasse is opened.
2012: Markas Austria employs over 1,000 employees.
2014: Gerlinde Tröstl takes over as managing director of Markas Austria.
2019: In just seven years, the workforce doubles: Markas now employs over 2,000 employees.
2024: Renewed contract for LK Baden Mödling - our first customer is again one of our clients.
