Safety and well-being: Markas' mission

24.04.2024 - Italy

Today, workplace safety is more than a regulatory obligation; it is a fundamental pillar for the well-being of employees.

World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an important opportunity to reflect on this concept and to highlight the urgency of promoting safe and healthy work environments for all.

In a world where challenges related to workplace safety remain significant, this day plays a crucial role in promoting awareness, action, and change needed to protect the lives and health of workers.

At Markas, we are very attentive to providing our collaborators with a work environment that ensures not only physical well-being but also a balance between personal life and work. For this reason, we have dedicated ourselves to both the construction of a building that offers healthier spaces and the implementation of activities and policies aimed at this purpose.

Safety and Well-being - Markas Bolzano
A "structural" commitment

The well-being of our employees is a central element of Markas' philosophy, and the Bolzano headquarters, inaugurated in 2019, is a great example. The building incorporates various elements designed for the comfort of employees, such as indoor plants and outdoor spaces dedicated to well-being.

All the spaces of the structure have been designed with the belief that a pleasant, healthy, and clean workplace can have a positive influence on the work performance and personal satisfaction of employees.

The headquarters, besides being highly sustainable, aims exactly to promote the well-being of employees by offering them a place where they feel good.

This commitment was rewarded in 2020 with the Well Gold certification for the "New and Existing Buildings" category, making it the first building in Italy to achieve this recognition.

A holistic approach

For Markas, providing a work environment that protects the health and safety of its people is not just a regulatory obligation. In addition to daily efforts to identify hazards through specific procedures, Markas is committed to training, informing, and raising awareness among its employees so that they perform their tasks consciously and safely. As a result, several projects have been created towards this direction, such as "Markas Health", an initiative aimed at identifying and correcting body postures and movements that workers may adopt during their daily activities, as well as "Markas Safety Week", an annual project spread over three weeks aimed at supporting Safety Officers in monitoring safety activities and raising health and safety awareness at the workplace.

Finally, for Markas, the health of its people also involves a healthy balance between personal life and work. To this end, numerous welfare initiatives have been implemented, such as corporate benefits and the possibility to work from home two days a week.

This choice also falls within the policies the company has implemented to promote better work-family balance. The success of choices like this has given the company the Family Audit certification.
