The response was overwhelming. Within just a few weeks, the collection containers began to fill up. Since then, the collected deposit bottles and cans have been regularly returned by volunteer helpers, and the entire proceeds are meticulously documented.
Strong commitment – multiplied impact through the company
What makes this campaign special is not only the willingness of employees to collect deposits. The proceeds are not only donated in full; Markas, as a company, has also committed to significantly multiplying the amount. This decision highlights the appreciation for the employees’ dedication and maximizes the positive impact of the donation.
“We are thrilled by how positively our colleagues have embraced this initiative and with what enthusiasm they participate,” says David Demetz, Accounting, Finance & Controlling Director.
“It is a simple yet incredibly effective way to connect everyday actions—like disposing of a bottle—with social responsibility. Our employees are setting a great example here. We are especially pleased that, as a company, we can support their dedicated efforts and increase the donation amount as a sign of our appreciation, enabling us to provide even greater help to the Haus der Frau.”
Help that truly reaches people
This year, the full donation amount will go to the Haus der Frau in St. Pölten (https://hdfp.at/). This important local institution provides essential services: it offers women and their children in difficult life situations—whether after experiences of violence, in emergencies, or in times of homelessness—protection, psychological counseling, and comprehensive support in rebuilding their lives.
Angela Meissl, ESG Manager, explains the motivation behind the idea: “Every deposit bottle we throw into our collection box is a small contribution that can achieve something great when combined. It is a wonderful and fulfilling feeling to make a concrete and immediate contribution as a team to support women and children who urgently need help.”
The initiative proves how many small steps can grow into a powerful act of solidarity.
We’re continuing! The deposit collection point becomes permanent
Due to the success of the initiative, the deposit collection campaign will be continued permanently within the company. The goal is to establish this collection point as a fixed part of our corporate culture and regularly donate the collected deposit refunds to various charitable organizations in the region. This allows us to continuously demonstrate our social responsibility.
